Amanda Gladu is a New York City based costume designer, illustrator, and painter working in theater, dance, opera, and film.
Recent designs include productions of PATH OF MIRACLES (Spoleto Festival USA), LET'S HAVE A SÉANCE (HERE Arts), THE PUSSY GRABBER PLAYS (Joe's Pub), THE ROOMMATE (Kitchen Theatre Company), HOMEBOUND/ALAALA, ESPÍRITUS GEMELOS & 3.CATORCE DIECISÉIS (Ballet Hispánico), PUEBLA, NAVIDAD & BODA MEXICANA (Calpulli Mexican Dance Company), EQUIVOCATION (Next Act Theatre), STIX (American Theatre of Actors), and THRONES! THE MUSICAL PARODY (Apollo Theater). While at Northwestern University, Amanda designed productions of EQUIVOCATION, ANNA IN THE TROPICS, SWEET CHARITY, select pieces in DANCEWORKS and DANCEWORKS: CURRENT RHYTHMS, and STICK FLY.
Recent Associate designs include DYING CITY, MARY PAGE MARLOWE (Second Stage Theater), HURRICANE DIANE (New York Theatre Workshop), THE NAP (Manhattan Theatre Club), DO YOU FEEL ANGER?, HARRY CLARKE (Vineyard Theatre), EMMELINE (Manhattan School of Music), EUGENE ONEGIN (The New School), and AFTER THE BLAST (LCT3).
Amanda received the 2017 Michael Merritt Academic Award for Collaborative Design for Northwestern University. She holds an M.F.A. in Stage Design from Northwestern University, and dual B.A. degrees in Dance and Art History from the University of Texas at Austin. Upcoming work includes DANCE NATION (The Wilma Theater), and LAND, LOST, FOUND (Gibney Dance).
Amanda currently lives in Brooklyn with her partner, Logan, and her chihuahua, Daisy.
